Flash of dahlias

I always liked to work with the seasons so I decided to bring them to my tattoos. I will create special flash art for each season. I love tattooing plants and flowers since I have a strong connection with them.

I decided to start with some dahlias. I usually turn around to contemplate them when I find them in my city walks or when I’m riding my bike. They just make me happy; their shapes and their colors, they look “strong” to me. I was just reading about them and I found that they are natives to Mexico (they are their national flower) and they were part of the Aztecs diet. Their original name in Nahuatl  is Atlcocotlixochitl comes from:: a-tl (water), coco-tli (tube) y xochitl (flower). It seams like it is 42 species if not more and they are divided in groups; in my flash I’m representing 8 of them (single, anemone, semi cactus, cactus, decorative, peony, collarette, orchid). They need a lot of sun and in North America we can see them in the late summer.

I would like to tattoo some of them before the end of the summer.  Write me an email if you are interested and please share it with your friends.

The Grey Sun - paintings - February 2014

The Grey Sun is a collection of paintings that I made from November to now. They are inspired by the cold and the winter, I worked with black, white and grey mainly, letting some greens and blues appear in some of the images. Some bare trees and a lot of stars. The sun is a star and the winter is grey. This stars keep appearing in the space, repeating themselves .
Acrylic paint on canvas and plywood.

I’m showing them for the month of February at Coffee House 5 on the corner of N Killingsworth and Albina (across the street from PCC). The place is open 7 days a week till 8 pm (6pm on Sundays).
Pieces are for sale and have a price but you can make me a different offer if you really want one!
